    Scarce 1996 Dubai World Cup "simulcast" program was printed in the United States and used at simulcast outlets that carried the race for betting purposes. Gambling is illegal in Dubai and the entire UAE.
    The race was run at Nad Al Sheba Racecourse in the United Arab Emirates, and this was the inaugural running with a "then" record purse of ,000,000!
    Jerry Bailey guided CIGAR to the wire for his 14th consecutive victory!  They would take home ,400,000 for the effort! Bailey would go on to win 4 of the first 7 renewals of this race!
